Heterotopias
Online exhibition.
The title of this series, Heterotopias, has more to do with the reconstruction of a space in its diverse parts, the fragmentation of paper scraps and the reconfiguration of all of these pieces into a new landscape.
A rectangular space on which on a one dimensional layer you can see a juxtaposition of incompatible matter (paper, tissue, ink) brought up together, coexisting in a single landscape.
I see this body of work as two dimensional landscapes which provide a space of interaction between a wide range of matter, diverse matter, a multiplication of layers and small spaces if the eye is keen to look closer.

The State of Things
The State of Things is a reminiscence of what we are living now: a multi-layered reality with a multi-informed society with different versions of a single problem. The multi-cultural is also present in this landscape. I particularly like the presence of the curvy, thin cutouts which seem to converse with the heavy textures and the bright colours of the paper.
Playful and expressive, Resistance is a piece in which the combination of textures and colours deliver an eighties feel. I have also included part of a note to self that reads “la” indefinitely. At the centre, a single and delicate line seems to resist the explosion of texture and colour on each side of the composition. I added some ink drops and left bits of tissue paper here and there.
The Frontier Expanded. The title refers to science fiction and the possibility to explore other worlds. I have added some black ink droplets to hold each piece together. You will notice that I have spent some time working the texture of tissue paper. I swept airy bright colours to fill the eerie background. But there’s more: an impromptu character in one corner seems to turn and throw a toothy smile.
Distribution of the Sensible is an abstract landscape composed by diverse and bold ¨panels’ where a vibrant range of colours seem to take the lead. It seems to me there is a sort of architectural feel to it, which reminds me of modernist Mexican architects from the 1950s and 60s. I have also incorporated some rusty layers, texturised paper and delicate fine silver layers which add a gentle depth to the landscape.
